What inspires us
I have been in love with the moon for a long time now, chasing a moonrise as often as possible. So when NASA’s Artemis II Mission to the moon happened in the Spring of 2026, I followed it closely. I watched and listened to daily briefings with Astronauts Wiseman, Glover, Koch, Hansen, ISS, and NASA. The mission inspired me to repurpose the (Astroboy) Big Red Boots into Artemis 2 Moon Low Tops. This experimentation with acrylic paste lead to the Artemis 2 Moon Collection, which was debuted at the Pancake and Booze show in Austin, TX at the end of May 2026. During the show I sold 2 moons (Rocky Moon and Water Moon) as well as the only print of Hello Moon, Hello World.
Check out the video of the making of the Artemis 2 Moon Low Tops below!
Hello Moon, Hello World
The Artemis 2 Moon Low Tops left me wanting to zoom out even further and show the Orion spacecraft with the Moon and a crescent Earth as the Artemis II Crew captured it themselves! This piece incorporates paste and iridescent colors to highlight a shimmering space, and texturize the spacecraft, moon, and Earth.
Moon Collection
The Artemis 2 Moon collection is comprised of Rocky Moon, Disco Moon, Lovely Moon, and Water Moon. The Rocky Moon represents the texture of the Moon —the base level of knowledge we had on the Moon at launch time. The Disco Moon is an ode to the daily wake up songs chosen by the crew! Lovely Moon is based on the description the crew gave on their exact visual of the moon —lots of heart-shaped craters and markings and vibrant hues. Lastly, Water Moon is representative of the crew’s landing after re-entry in the Pacific Ocean.
