Caren Morfin, alias Caremor, is a painter, photographer, and writer. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, she more seriously took up art at fifteen years old and has explored a variety of mediums and styles. She primarily trained in traditional painting and drawing techniques through adulthood while in New York and Boston. She has also been making clothes since she was thirteen which led her to seek a fashion design course during her time in Florence, Italy. 

Her preferred mediums are acrylic and oil on canvas and include a variety of techniques that create texture and add depth. She likes to complete paintings by incorporating clean lines and fine details. She took up photography as an adult primarily focusing on urban and scenic landscapes, spurred by constant travel and moving around. Similarly to painting, she seeks to memorialize scenic frames she stumbles upon in reality. She believes it can be trickier to capture those scenes with a camera as technology doesn’t always do nature justice, but through the editing process she ensures the integrity of the colors and composition remains intact. 

She ventured into the abstract world in recent years, exploring and mixing different techniques and allowing creativity to flow more naturally onto canvases. In this series she is capturing and depicting the extraordinary in the mundane. She believes there is so much beauty around us if we just take a second to look around. Her artwork offers insight into how she views the world and how the colors of our world speak to her. She currently lives in Chicago and is focusing on showcasing the various unique landscapes the city has to offer, honoring Chicago’s iconic Architecture.
